Modifications to previous profiles were received since December 01. Menchie Mendoza is from batch 83 and not 84 as previously published.
All of the graphics have been cleaned and reduced in file size. Geocities has increased our free webspace from 2Mb to 3Mb since December 08. This will allow us to have more pictures and stories in our website.
See the December 1997 batch news article page for late breaking news particularly regarding the batch 82 reunion.
Further to my invitation last update regarding on-line chats, you may also wish to download NetMeeting by Microsoft. The said software is also being used from time to time to allow videoconferencing between alumni. Go to our Interaction page to download this software and configure Netmeeting.
Pictures of the recently concluded reunion of LSQC Class of 1982 are posted in the LSQC 82 web site. See links page to go to the LSQC Class of 1982 web site.
Webmasters of the four LSQC Alumni sites (79, 81, 82, 83) have formed an informal but official group called the LSQC Alumni Network. Two profile updates for the Roll Call page were submitted since November 17, 1997 namely Edwin Lagera and Menchie Mendoza (batch 84).
I have also included some information in the December 1997 batch news article page which I got when I attended the batch 1982 reunion.
I enjoin LSQC alumni to be with us Sundays 9:00 am Manila time (on an almost regular basis). We conduct on-line chats using ICQ. Go to our Interaction page to download this software. Take time to read the webmaster's comments regarding rumors circulating in ICQ.
Congratulations to LSQC Class of 1982 on a very successful celebration of their 15th year reunion. See the links page to go to the LSQC Class of 1982 web site. Thank you for having invited me as a guest of your reunion. I hope I was able to remember most of the words in the different speeches I present below. I will keep you posted regarding pictures taken during the reunion.
Fr. Ed Tiamson, in his opening speech for the said reunion, challenges batch 82 and other batches as well, with these words ".... if when you were in LSQC, you where looking forward to what your school can do for you, now it is time to find time to see what you can do for your alma mater ...."
Ms. Jallorina Dueñas (thanks to Arnel Agustin for reminding me her married surname), on the other hand, stated that "... you are excused if you have forgotten the formulas / terminologies you learned in your subjects .... but there are some things that you are expected to remember. These are the Christian values of honesty, trust, etc." Tatandaan din namin na sa December 20 ang raffle ng mga tickets na binenta ni Ms. Dueñas sa mga nag-attend ng reunion.
Dr. Santos (yes, guys, he has a PhD.), imparted the theme of the school for 1997 which is "Renewal of commitment ..." He further presented an analogy of a "... Greek warrior who regains his strength by coming back to his village and 'kisses the ground' ..." He invites us "... to come back to your alma mater and 'kiss the ground' if you are feeling down or weak ..."
Much has changed in our alma mater's premises. For one, all rooms in the first floor area are now classrooms (from the former typing room to the audio visual room). The former principal's office is now the faculty room. Second, the CAT room is now under the first floor stairs with some extension at the back. The rooms after the canteen has been transformed into guidance rooms and tutorial classrooms. Third, The MAGNIFICAT HALL is an open area occupying half of the former quadrangle that we know of. It is part of a five story edifice which houses a laboratory, classrooms and a multi purpose hall on the fifth floor.
I had a chance to talk to Dr. Santos (principal), Mr. de Guzman (asst. principal) and Fr. Ed Tiamson (director). They were glad to know of the progress of members of batch 79 and 81 that I was able to impart.
Mr. de Guzman also stated that the annual alumni homecoming is still scheduled every February, right after the celebration of the Feast of our Lady of Lourdes. Come back to this page for further details on this homecoming.
Unfortunately, the school does not have internet access (although they do have computer classes) so they could not appreciate our websites yet. Hopefully, they will be in cyberspace in a few years time.
On a sad note, I learned that Mr. Moral and Mr. Laurente has already joined our redeemer several years ago. Let us pray for the repose of their souls.
